Impact-Driven Collaboration — The Wicked7 Project

“World belongs to humanity, not this leader, that leader or that king or prince or religious leader. World belongs to humanity.” — Dalai Lama

Originally, the new year was on the 1st of April per the Julian calendar. In 1563, as decided by the Council of Trent, the French moved to the Gregorian calendar. New Year’s became Jan 1st.

But there were a bunch of people that kept forgetting or were kind of slow to catch on and kept celebrating April 1st as the new year. These people were pranked and teased mercilessly and apparently, the April fools day tradition was born.

There are also historical references to April fools Day in Ancient Rome and the vernal equinox.

And today is April fools Day. But this next part is not a prank.

Today is the launch of the Wicked7 Project. It's an open-collaboration project by Christian Sakar and Philip Kotler. Its purpose? To address 7 wicked problems of our planet.

Earth. The 3rd world from the sun. We are at a tipping point. Humanity is at a tipping point.

Here’s what Jonathan Foley of Project Drawdown had to say about that:

“Do you know how hard it is to remove CO2 from the air using the machine? It’s really, really hard. It’s a lot easier just not to put it in there.” Source — https://earther.gizmodo.com/billionaires-favorite-climate-solution-is-a-dangerous-1846288073?utm_medium=sharefromsite&utm_source=earther_twitter

What we really need is to put aside our biases, our differences, our greed and work together. In doing so maybe just maybe we might be able to pull this off.

Working together is what Wicked7 is all about. The two co-founders understand that we can’t solve one problem without solving another. The Climate Crisis is interwoven with poverty and inequality. It also leads to climate migration, issues with technology, and so on and so forth.

The first step is to document these wicked problems and link them to causes. After that, we embark on an ambitious goal of mapping solutions. Here’s a short video from the team:

Most people who meet me call me an idealist. I believe that to be a great thing. Through my idealism, I believe eventually humanity will choose love, compassion above all else. And that we WILL come TOGETHER.

The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.- H. L. Mencken

Let's choose to save humanity instead of rule it. Cause the price trying to rule it just might be one we cannot pay.

I’m reminded of something Lady Galadriel said in The Two Towers:

“Do We Leave Middle-Earth To Its Fate? Do We Let Them Stand Alone?” — Source https://screenrant.com/lord-of-the-rings-galadriel-memorable-quotes-elves-lothlorien/

Do we let the future generations stand alone? Do we leave them to the fate that we wrought? Do join us at Wicked7.org.
